As the principal and founder of Global Event Associates, Kim brings over 25 years experience in managing meetings and events to GEA, along with an Executive MBA and 15 years Fortune 500 management experience at one of the leading life sciences instrumentation companies.  A member of the San Diego Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, Kim has achieved the prestigious Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry Council, joining an elite group of meeting professionals worldwide who have demonstrated meeting expertise based upon an extensive review of professional qualifications and successful passing of a comprehensive written examination of all functions of meeting management.

 

During her 17 years in the life sciences arena, Kim was responsible for several national scientific seminar series, numerous customer appreciation events, technology user group meetings, and the design and management of inter- and intra-departmental team building programs.  Additionally, Kim designed, developed and implemented all elements of objectives, content, meeting logistics, special events, look and feel and organizational development of a 120 person Technical Customer Support and Applications Specialist “mini- MBA” Off-site program.  Kim also had the responsibility for all aspects of National and Global Sales meetings, including messaging, content, site selection, food and beverage, logistics, entertainment, communications, and audio visual, earning her praise for her “grace under pressure” from numerous meeting industry professionals.

 

Complementing Kim’s corporate meeting management experience, she has coordinated over 200 weddings from intimate to extravagant affairs, led fundraising events, and managed numerous special events.  Finally, Kim’s passion for planning events extends into her own home, where she regularly  hosts upwards of 70 of her closest friends for themed parties where she prepares meals ranging from casual Memphis Bar B Ques, Louisiana crawfish boils, and Caribbean soul food feasts  to elegant Tuscan dinner parties.

In addition to her Executive MBA from Pepperdine University focusing on Strategic Management and Organizational Development, Kim holds a BA from Southern Illinois University in Physiology, the Convention Industry Council CMP designation, a Certification in Meeting Management and Special Events Planning from the University of California, San Diego, Training Specialist Certification from Langevin Learning Services, and Project Management Certification from International Institute for Learning. Kim is a member of the San Diego Chapter of MPI. Kim is also a member of Beach and Country Guild, an invitation-only service organization supporting the San Diego United Cerebral Palsy Centers through it's annual fund raising event, Dia del Sol.

David brings over 20 years of event marketing experience to the table for GEA. As founder and president of Artichoke Creative, our integrated marketing agency partner, he provides GEA and our customers the best in creative concepts, design, and execution of marketing strategies and promotional materials. He is well versed in the latest technology along with traditional mediums to offer a truly integrated marketing approach.

David is responsible for building the GEA brand, assisting with venue selection, event concepts, speaker and entertainment booking, and offering his full line of creative services to our clients. His experience running large corporate motor yachts, managing and promoting over 300 events for Fortune 100 corporations and start-ups gives him the breadth of experience to work with any size organization.

Prior to joining GEA, Steve spent 27 years in the scientific instrumentation industry, focusing primarily on information systems and technology. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Steve has extensive experience in informatics and databases, including product management, marketing, and sales, as well as customer and product support. Steve also earned certification as a Database Administrator for both Oracle and Sybase systems.

 

Steve has designed and implemented on-line meeting and event registration databases which integrated with meeting specific microsites, as well as developed custom registration, transportation, and housing reporting capability for his clients.

 

At GEA, Steve is responsible for the development of our internal databases as well as assisting our clients with their registration and database needs.

He can also cook a mean Prime Rib!
